Hey Rylan! Thats a interesting research proposal. I was reading a little bit about bamboo as a building material and it says there are 500 species of bamboo. Maybe you could narrow it down to a few species that are suitable for building, and research there structural properties, availability and practicality. The practically would obviously depend on geographical location but its still an interesting idea. I found this link on Bamboo, it basically research the feasability of bamboo as a builing material.

While it may not be bamboo (I'm not actually too certain) its still a very cool way to use small diameter pieces of wood in construction.
Brings up the idea of using it as sheathing, as well as finding structural uses for it.
